Outside the marginals

A commentary on the politics that followed the UK 2010, 2015 & 2017 elections

NHS Reforms (part 2)

I notice that one of my local GPs is due to spend “two days per week as a Director of the local Clinical Commissioning Group”.

How many others are due to spend time away from the front-line caring for their profit and loss accounts rather than for their patients?

I thought this government believed in “putting bobbies on the beat”, “why don’t they also believe in putting “doctors in the consulting rooms” (and the homes of the sick)?

Ah, I get it – after “teething problems” we will get part 2 of the reforms.  The government will introduce Health and Sickness Commissioners (HSCs) and require us to elect political has-beens to take over all this commissioning nonsense.  Then they can blame us for getting the health service we deserve – us the “feckless sick”.

It’s enough to make this agnostic think “God Help Us”.
